Production-ready Volkswagen Taigun SUV spotted on test run

Volkswagen Taigun

The upcoming Volkswagen Taigun SUV will compete against names such as Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, and MG Hector.

Under the India 2.0 strategy, the Volkswagen Group will launch some very exciting products in India. Skoda has just launched the Kushaq, the first car to be built under the new strategy. Skoda heads the strategy in India, which is why the first car was launched. Volkswagen Taigun will launch soon, its first car in the new strategy.

German car manufacturer, BMW, is testing the new Taigun long-term on Indian roads. We have also been able to see the base version of the Taigun. Below are some spy photos of the new Taigun, which shows the top-end version of the SUV. The new Taigun will be priced at a level that is comparable to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and other vehicles in this segment. __S.8__

Shifting-Gears has taken new spy photos of the Taigun in white. It does indeed look very premium. The spy photos show the Taigun’s headlamps hidden in its grille. The bumper houses the fog lamps. It gets a bold, strong look thanks to the thick cladding with a chrome strip.

A black finish is also available on the alloy wheels for the Taigun. Aerodynamically designed, the wheels reduce drag. Blacked-out Bpillars, rock guards at the door, and silver-coloured roof rails are added to the side. A rear tail lamp with a wide body is added to the vehicle. It’s smoked and looks great. The overall look of the Taigun is typical Volkswagen.

Options for petrol-only engines

The Volkswagen Group has stayed away from diesel engines after the huge dieselgate fraud. The Volkswagen Taigun, just like the Kushaq will only be available with petrol engines. The engine is a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol that produces a maximum power output of 115 PS and peak torque output of 175 Nm. It will have the same power and torque output as the Kushaq.

The turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine is more powerful and produces 150 PS. It also has a peak torque output of 250 Nm. Both engine options offer manual or automatic transmissions. The 1.0-litre engine will have a torque converter, while the larger engine option will have a 7-speed DSG auto.

Volkswagen will offer the Taigun a host of features, including a digital instrument cluster and automatic climate control system. Push-button start-stop, push-button stop, multi-function steering wheel, TPMS, electricly adjustable seats, and push-button turn-stop.

The Volkswagen Taigun is the first compact SUV to be launched in India. The model is expected to gain traction due to the increasing popularity of SUVs on the Indian market.
