Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao announce divorce
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan released an official statement to announce his separation from Kiran Rao. The couple have been married for 15+ years and have a son Azad Rao Khan.
Aamir khan and Kiran shared their joint statement, which read: “In these fifteen beautiful years together, we have shared an entire lifetime of experiences, joy, and laughter, and our love has only grown in trust and respect.” We are now ready to start a new chapter of our lives, not as husband and wife but as co-parents for one another.
The agreement also stated that “We started a planned separation some years ago and now feel comfortable to formalise the arrangement, which allows us to live separately while still sharing our lives as extended families do.” We will continue to be Azad’s parents and care for him. We will continue to collaborate on films, Paani Foundation, or other projects we are passionate about.
“We want to thank our family and friends for all their support and understanding during this transition in our relationship. Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to make this leap. We ask for your blessings and good wishes, and hope you see this divorce, like us, not as the end of our relationship.” The statement was signed by Kiran and Aamir.
Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan met on the sets at Lagaan, where Rao was Assistant Director. They were able to spend some time together before they got married on December 28, 2005. They welcomed their first child Azad Rao Khan via surrogacy in 2011.
Aamir had been married to Reena dutta in the past, but he divorced her after 16 years of marriage. From his first marriage to Reena Dutta, he has a daughter Ira as well as a son Junaid.
Aamir Khan looks forward to Laal Singh Chadha’s release on the work front. This Hindi remake is of the award-winning Tom Hanks movie Forrest Gump. Advait Chandan directed the movie. Kareena Khan Khan plays the lead role.
